Thank you! Hey Eugen. Unfortunately, used small pickup will need to upgrade the shifters, both derailleurs, cassette and chainset.
The reason for this is that the chain required for a 10 speed system is a lot narrower than an 8 speed chain and as such, it will not sit on any of the sprockets correctly which will force the chain to constantly skip. Fortunately though, the brakes will be compatible and there will be no 16 inch bicycle tire to change these.

It looks like I will be getting bikw Claris free cycling stuff. I was a bit worried about how well it would work but it sounds like a good choice. Dave Mayer.
I almost exclusively use second-hand bike componentry, because I am cheap. But get the Claris.
The usual fault is that the pivots are worn out from thousands of shifts, and so the derailleurs are loose and provide sloppy shifting. Or deraillwur the bike simply fell over, and the derailleur is subtly bent.
Or the pulleys are worn out, either the teeth or bushings or both.
These problems are frustrating, in that the derailleur may look OK, but you may spend unsuccessful hours bie to sort out shifting issues.
Finally, there are incompatibility issues. Old 7 and 8 speed Dura-Ace may be very nice stuff, but it is basically incompatible with all other Shimano product.

Find More 8 speed rear derailleur road bike by bikemig. The age of a component has little to do with how much wear it has, that's more a function of who owned it previously, how it was used, and how wel it was cared for. I've seen lots of 30 year old components that still look like new, because the bike they were on was never ridden much.
And I've seen lots of 10 year old or newer bikes that have worn-out shifting components. Some less expensive groups were not made of the best materials, or using the best manufacturing methods, so the age faster than higher quality parts of the same age 8 speed rear derailleur road bike older.
For the most part, all the extra gears are useless.
deraolleur My childhood bike had just 10 gears. Then bikes went to 15 gears. Then Do you really need that many gears? What you really need is a good range of gears.
You need gears that are low foad for going up tough hills, and gears that are high enough that you can keep pedaling when going down gentle inclines.
If your gear range is good, the number of gears is irrelevant. You just need enough of a range.
Think of it like this:
News:Bicycle gearing is the aspect of a bicycle drivetrain that determines the relation between the On single-speed bicycles and multi-speed bicycles using derailleur gears, Gear inches and metres of development also take the size of the rear wheel Some cyclists choose to fine-tune the gearing to better suit their strength.
